Image Details:

Taken from my backyard in Austin, TX on February 6 and 13, 2010.
Mag 4 skies under the best conditions. Mag 2 around the target.

61x4 min on 2/13/10 (30 flats, 40 darks, master bias)
8 hours, 42 minutes total exposure at ISO1600

AT8RC guided with AT66ED and Star Shoot Autoguider using PhD
Atlas mount running EQMOD
Modified Canon 40D with IDAS clip in filter
Dew Heaters running on AC power
Sony alarm clock for timing of twilight flats in the AM

Challenges Faced:
1. Processing after 4 hours of exposure and realizing it's not enough time on the target.
2. Dovetail clamping screws on main scope barely holding on by tear down time. Luckily nothing crashed to the ground.
3. Pushing for 4 minute subs during the second imaging run left a histogram too far to the right, but gradually moved left as the target rose higher in the sky.
4. Collimation….still can't get a good star test due to lack of focusing distance with an eyepiece without a diagonal. A corrective doodad is on order.
5. At this time of year I have no more than 90 minutes to set up, polar align, focus, acquire the target and start shooting before my kids go to bed. I have to be organized to fit in some family time while the shots are being made.
6. Processing! I learned some new tricks in PS but I may be over doing it. Your comments welcome!
